Food From Around the World That You Can Try in Your Own Hometown
There is a wonderfully diverse variety of cuisines around the globe, and while you can enjoy them while traveling, you don’t have to leave the country in order to experience some of these delicious options. There are probably all sorts of foreign favorites that you can find close to home. Check out some of these foods from around the world that you can try in your own hometown.
French fries topped with gravy and cheese curds certainly do sound delicious. Poutine originated in Canada but has gained popularity around the United States. It’s fairly easy to make, and a lot of restaurants are making their very own variations of it. Don’t be surprised if you see it on the menu at your favorite restaurant.
If you are in the mood for a tender meat that’s sweet, you’ve got to order bulgogi. This dish is popular in South Korea, and it keeps tourists and locals coming back for more. It’s usually made with a simple marinade that contains only soy sauce and sugar. One of the things that make bulgogi so delicious is that it has to be made from freshly butchered meat, so it’s always very tender.
This dish is the perfect combination of smoky heat and flavor. Jerk chicken originated in Jamaica, but you can probably find it on the menu at a Caribbean restaurant near you. While the jerk, which can be either a dry rub or a wet marinade, primarily uses allspice and peppers, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and other spices may also be added to this dish as well. If you aren’t a fan of heat, you can ask for them to make it a little less spicy as the spices can easily be toned down in order to fit your taste buds.
You will find this dish on virtually every street corner in Vietnam. Pho is a soup that’s made with noodles, meat, and a clear broth. There are a variety of different types of pho to choose from including those that contain tripe, beef, or chicken. Pho is eaten in Vietnam for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You can eat it as an appetizer or as a main course.
If you are in the mood to try something different, find a restaurant in your hometown that offers one of the foods mentioned above. All of them are delicious and probably taste a lot different than what you usually eat. You can easily find a dish that gives you a taste of some international fare without ever having to leave the country.
