How to Transform Your Bedroom to a Romantic Love Nest

A bedroom is a special place for most of us. It’s where we sleep, relax and have a romantic time with our partner. If your bedroom is full of not-so-romantic stuff like a computer, exercise machines, and even your children’s toys, it’s time to clean up.

Even if you live in a studio apartment, there are tips and tricks you can use to create that special love nest you have always dreamt about. You can achieve this with a little creativity and on any budget. Read on to see how you can transform your bedroom into a romantic love nest.

Remove the Clutter

A lot of us quickly run out of space, and we start to fill up every room we have with clothes, bills, papers, and electronics. This is also very common for people who work from home. It can be very difficult to separate work and relaxing time. It’s time to move any unnecessary clutter from your bedroom into rooms where it belongs.

If your room is always filled with random stuff, it can be difficult to relax and it will make you distracted. If there is absolutely no space in other rooms, consider bringing in storage drawers or bins that go well with your décor where you can store all your clutter. The less clutter you have lying around, the easier it will be to create a romantic setting.

New Bedding

This is the time to break out the best sheets you have. Every day can be a special day and it’s a waste to never use those nice sheets you have been storing for some time. Consider the material and colours of the sheets you will use or buy. Maybe you like natural fabrics like cotton or linen. Maybe try out some of those with a higher thread count.

They can feel and look very expensive and luxurious. Or maybe use silk or satin for the extra luxuriousness and romance. White sheets are always your best bet, but you can also add pops of red, pink and purple for a touch of romance. Lots of pillows will make your bed look very inviting and comfortable. Play with colours and patterns and see what feels the best for you and your partner.

Lightning

A bedroom doesn’t need a lot of light. It’s where you sleep, get dressed and have a nice time. Overhead lights can be very harsh. Consider using floor and table lamps for specific spots of light. If you need more lighting to get dressed, you can install small LED lights in your dresser that don’t disturb the bedroom look and feel. If you like to read in bed, there are many different light sconces that can be adjustable. This will help you control the illumination area.

If you have dimmers, it’s even easier to create a romantic setting. Remember, dim lights are the way to go if you want some romantic time with your partner. Another source of light can be candles or, even better, scented candles that will add a nice fragrance to the romance. Fairy lights can look amazing over the bed and they add just the perfect touch of soft light.

Pictures

Pictures are a very easy and common décor. But, it’s very easy to go overboard with them. Remember, less is more. A bedroom is a space you share with your loved one, so it’s best to avoid having pictures of your children, parents, and relatives. It can create a very unsettling feeling of being watched, and it’s certainly not someone you want in the room with you.

Those photos are great for a living room. In your bedroom, however, choose art and prints that add a bit of romance, and use pictures of you and your loved one. It can be a nice picture from the beginning of your relationship, a wedding photo or even a love letter nicely framed. Make sure you don’t position the pictures to look straight at you in the bed.

Decorations

What is a room without some nice décor? If your bedroom is feeling a little bland, consider adding some pieces to spruce it up and be more romantic. A well picked out room décor can make all the difference in your bedroom. It can even make or break the mood. Make sure to stick to a colour theme, as you don’t want to be overwhelmed or distracted.

There are many décor items to choose from. Adding pots and small plants in pops of colour or pattern can add just the right touch of decoration. Use weaved baskets for your throw pillows that add a pop of colour to your bed. A white tray with colourful candles and glasses for your wine is a perfect way to accent your side table. Consider using colours like pastel pink and peach to add a subtle romantic hue to your bedroom.

Electronics

You already know that using electronics in your bedroom is a surefire way to kill the romance. Don’t keep the television in your bedroom. If you have a TV in your bedroom, you are more likely to watch something until very late, and you will either be too tired or in a bad mood for romance. A living room is the only place for a TV.

Other electronics like laptops, tablets, and phones also make you very distracted, and not only don’t set up the mood for romance, but they mess with your sleep. If you need your phone for an alarm, keep it as far away from your bad as you can to not be tempted to look at it. A good electronic to have is a small speaker where you can play some nice music to set the mood. Make a playlist and let it help you relax and put you in the mood.

Transforming your bedroom into a love nest doesn’t have to be a daunting task. Add some decorations, dim the lights and play some nice music to reconnect with your partner. Don’t forget that a lock and a key can be saviours for your mood.
