Three Reasons You Should Blog about Your Journey to New Zealand

New Zealand is the place you have always dreamed of to visit. There is so much there worth the 12 hour flight from most cities with direct flights. So much to do and so much to experience, the journey to this island nation is the epitome of “Great Vacation Destinations.”

But why then should you blog about this vacation spot? Well, why not? Wouldn’t you want to document your travels? Wouldn’t you want to reminisce ten, twenty years from now about the amazing trip you took? Wouldn’t you like for friends to see you enjoying the splendors of another land?

The answer to these should be “Yes.” You should want to share your journey with as many people as you can. If you are not a writer by nature, no big deal. This is your experience. Just put into your own words what you have done, what you saw, and how you felt when seeing or doing these things. This is the important stuff.

There are other reasons to blog about your trip to New Zealand, not just to share your story. Below are some of the advantages of blogging about your visit to the land of the Kiwis.

Posterity

As mentioned before, at some point in your life you will want to reminisce about your wonderful trip. By blogging about your vacation, you will not only have pictures to look back on, but you will also have the words to remind you of a great time. The words will describe how you felt when you walked through the ice tunnels of the Franz Josef Glacier. They will remind you about the route you took to get the the Mount John Observatory and the clarity of the night sky you got to see through the enormous telescope.

If this was a trip with you and your spouse, you will want to look back at the amazing time you had with your younger spouse. Reminiscing about the past can be a little painful, but it can also be an opportunity to rekindle the love and affection between the two of you.

The kids will enjoy a trip to New Zealand. To see the wonder of the world through their eyes at that point in time is truly a pleasure. To look back at those special moments will cause you to cry loving tears for your children. As a parent, you will want to be able to look back and read about the fun the family had together, and about the silly or amazing things the kids did that you weren’t able to capture in a picture.

Inspiration

The written word has the ability to inspire people. With your blog, you can inspire others to take their own journeys. Whether it is to the magnificent city of Auckland, encircled by the sea and the mountains, or to some other destination that holds significant meaning to them, you could spark the desire in someone to experience the world.

Not only can you ignite the flames of exploration in others, but you can be inspired as well. While you are writing your adventures for all the world to read, the world will write back. They will comment and discuss the places they have gone and the people they have met. This will inspire you to do some more traveling, find new adventures. Give you something else to blog about.

Money

Blogging about your black water rapid adventure through the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves could end up earning you additional income. If your blog reaches a large number of readers, then companies of all sizes will want to start advertising on your website. The more readers you reach, the more you can start charging these companies.

You can earn money by allowing ads to fill the side bars and banner at the top of your page. You could also earn money by allowing these companies to post their own content within your blog (you will want to make sure their posts match the theme of your blog).

Companies do this to gain exposure to their products from reliable sources. If you can build up a big enough monthly readership, the ads will keep posting and you will have a continuous flow of revenue to help pay for your living expenses.

Start Your Blogging

Now that you know why you should blog about your travels to New Zealand (or any location you wish to go), you still need to know how to start a blog, you still need a few things. Firstly, you will need a domain name, a name that will catch the attention of readers, and a website to match.

As for your writing, it was mentioned above that you should not worry. Type your thoughts out, or put it all on paper if you are old school. You do not need to use fancy words. Start with what you know. As long as the post reads smoothly, you are fine. And your skills will improve over time (possibly leading to a career in writing – another reason you should start your own blog!).

You will also want to include images in your posts. Again, you do not have to be a professional. If you have pictures from your vacation (and you should), then by all means use them. If you need some additional photographs to enhance the message you are trying to get across, then feel free to use some free stock imagery found online. Studies have shown that a mixture of color pictures and black and white images make a blog more interesting to readers. Spice it up and make it fun.

Blogging can be a fun way to share your vacation. Your thoughts can be put into words, your feelings onto a format for others to enjoy as well. Seeing the beauty of New Zealand can inspire others to take their own dream vacations, and can lead you to taking another one. Preserving your trip in this manner will also allow you to look back at the great experiences you had, and the love you shared with your family while there.
