The Flavorful Journey of Sauces

After trying many of the dishes from the Italian cuisine that I noticed, no dish in the list is prepared without the use of sauces, whether it’s homemade or a market one. You are surely going to find the sauce as the main and side ingredient of Italian dish whether it’s the organic barbecue sauce, spicy tomato sauce or any other.

So, let’s know more about them which creates magic in Italian dishes.

Ragu Napoletano

It’s a native of Italy which originated from Naples and is prepared with meat and tomato sauce. The Ragu Napoletano includes huge amounts of tomato sauce and uses whole pieces of meat instead of ground or chopped meat. The cooking of the sauce is done on low flame slowly, which starts with combining soffritto made from minced pancetta and prosciutto and freshly picked herbs to add some extra aroma one of it is called piperna.

The dish uses various types of meat the popular one is beef and pork and sometimes both combined.

The cooking of Ragu Napoletano is a lengthy process so you should cook it two days before your party and you are good to go and use it with all pasta variants, and meat is eaten as friarielli.

Tomato-Based Barbecue Sauce

It is the most popular and used sauce and uses tomato in the form of ketchup, and all other ingredients are added to the ketchup and make it rich to the perfect consistency of the sauce.

It has this sweet and tangy flavour with other ingredients incorporated which are ketchup molasses, brown sugar, vinegar, cayenne pepper and other spices like onions, garlic powder and few other spices. And the organic barbecue sauce teamed up with any meat from pork and beef to lamb and chicken also making everything tasty.

Garum

This sauce is one of the ancient preparations of Roman times of fermented fish. It’s the liquid combination of fish and salt which enhances the flavour of dishes when the garum is combined with vinegar, oil, wine or pepper, and this also adds moisture to the dishes. The garum sauce can enhance the flavour of other dishes such as steamed mussels, crabs or boiled veal.

Agrodolce

This sauce gots its name from Italy in which Argo-means sour and dolce -means sweet. Agrodolce was an originality prepared sauce of Italy that has a sweet and sour flavour together.

You can prepare this sauce by combining vinegar and sugar with some excellent wine. One can even add other ingredients mixed like onions, chocolate sauce, fruit juices. It was made as this sauce traditionally, but now it has some added layers which make it chunky. The agrodolce sauce is typically used in many pasta dishes or as a topping or sometimes as dip made with cheese.

Mustard -Based BBQ Sauce

It’s a thin, spicy sauce with an astringent taste. This BBQ sauce is made with mustard, olive oil, vinegar and some pork meat. It is used in many pasta and other dishes.

Sugo Di Carne

This is yet another speciality of Italy which consists of ground beef, pork or both combined. This sauce is made with sautéed sofrito of onions, carrots, celery with some canned tomatoes and red wine to add more flavors. To add more depth even tomato paste and porcini mushroom is added, and all this mixture is seasoned with salt and pepper.

This yummy sauce is teamed up with all types of pasta dishes such as rigatoni, tagliatelle, fettuccine, Penne or pappardelle topped with cheese making you go all love with the meal prepared.

Marinara

This one is another tasty and simplest sauce prepared by Italian. This is a red sauce made with olive oil, garlic, tomatoes and herbs. It is used in many Italian dishes as it’s base and sometimes mayonnaise is added to the sauce with some spicy red chilled and turned it into spicy barbecue sauce to make all your dishes more flavorful.
