5 Tips for Packing for a Weekend Trip

Weekends are a great time to unwind and relax. it’s the time to just forget about your worries and focus on pampering yourself and what better way to do that than going for a weekend trip? You can go for a short road trip and take in new sights and sounds.

Just make sure that when you go on that weekend trip, you don’t bring too much with you, especially if you’re alone or not bringing your car with you. Packing too much may be uncomfortable for you if you have to lug around too many luggage for only a short trip. Here are some tips you can follow on how to pack for a weekend trip.

1. You need a good carry on luggage

If you are traveling by plane, you may want to check the rules on the size and weight of the luggage you can bring. The best carry on luggage would be those that have four wheels and can be expanded just in case you went a shopping spree and hoarded some souvenirs from your trip. It would also be a good idea to look for one that has several compartments inside so that you can separate your items or clothes that you are bringing.

2. Plan your outfits accordingly

Even if you are only going away for the weekend, it would still be a good idea to list down and plan what your outfits would be for each day. Make sure to research on what the weather would be like at your destination so that you will be prepared in case the forecast calls for snow or rain or the like. Also, make sure you bring one or two extra outfits or even just shirts or dresses so that you can have something just in case you spilled something on your clothes and it got dirty.

3. Choose your footwear based on what activities you will do

It’s not a good idea to bring 2 or 3 sets of footwear for a short trip. You can get away with just one if you consider just what type of activity you are going to do. If you are planning on going hiking or the like then bring your hiking boots, but if your destination is the beach and you just plan to lounge around, then you can just bring some sandals, etc.

4. Don’t bring things that you can get at the location for free or for a minimal fee

If you are staying at a hotel, you can already get towels and other toiletries there so you don’t need to bring them. But if that’s not the case, you can bring your toiletries, but just bring a small amount so it will not be bulky.

5. Wear your heaviest item

If you are going to a cold place, don’t pack your heavy jackets or coats into your luggage. Just wear them instead so that you can save on space for other things.
