Bayeux is one of the most popular tourist destination, best known to British and French visitors for the Bayeux tapestry. Legend says, the tapestry was made by Reine Mathilde, wife of William the Conqueror. In fact, it may have been designed and woven in England. It is displayed in a museum in the town center.
