Krakow, The Crown of Poland

Krakow is one of the oldest cities in Poland, with more than thousand years old history, a rich cultural and architectural importance. According to legend, written towards the end of XII century Kadlubek, Krakow name comes from the name of Prince Krak. This is a city known for its priceless historical monuments of culture and Art, and the former royal capital of Poland, which today is one of the most attractive places on the tourist map of Europe.

Krakow is located in an area of 326,8 km² and altitude of 219 m. According to the latest census made in March this year, in Krakow live 759.144 citizens. Krakow lies in several geographic territories: Brama Krakowska, Sandomierz Valley and Oświęcimska valley. Elongated axis of the city is the valley of the Vistula.
