Tenerife – The Island of Eternal Spring

Little paradise on earth belongs to the group of the Canary Islands. Tenerife is a Spanish island located in the Atlantic Ocean, near the coast of Africa. It is the largest and best known of the Canary Islands.

Tenerife is a volcanic island, which are created and modified by successive eruptions throughout its existence. The oldest mountain range in Tenerife rose in the Atlantic Ocean as a result of volcanic eruptions that produced the island’s twelve million years ago. The capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is also the capital of the Canary Islands. Population of Tenerife is 906 854 inhabitants.

Tenerife is known internationally as the “Island of Eternal Spring”. The island is on the same latitude as the Sahara desert, and it is characteristic of warm climate throughout the year. In winter the temperature ranges from 20 to 22 degrees Celsius, while in summer from 26 to 28th.

Despite its small area, Tenerife has a remarkable ecological diversity, as a result of the characteristic conditions of the island. This is an island with a rich and diverse flora of suitable manner in which some 1,400 species of plants. The same can be said for the fauna, the island is rich with over 400 species of fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, sea turtles, dolphins and whales.
