2. Elafonisi, Greece

Elafonisi is another Greek island but this one being located on the southwestern corner of the Mediterranean island of Crete. Its name means ‘’deer island’’ in Greek. It’s known mostly for its beautiful and rare beaches, rare because of the red sand they have. It gives to the whole island another charm and beauty. An interesting fact is that this island never forgets the tragedy that happened back in 1824 when several hundred Greeks were killed, most of them women and children, by the Ottoman soldiers. However, this is just the dark side of their history which has nothing to do with the beauty of island that it became.

3. Formentera, Spain

Formentera is a famous Spanish destination for a summer getaway. It belongs to the Balearic Islands. An interesting fact about this place is that it is believed to be the most magnetic point in Europe in relation to the setting sun. The island of Formentera is just about 19 km long and it’s just 6 km away from Ibiza. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea. It is a famous place especially for the hippies.
