Bratislava is the capital and largest city in Slovakia and is located on the border between Austria and Hungary. Situated 60 km from Vienna, it lies on the banks of the river Danube. Bratislava is an old European city, full of charm and beauty, fully restored historic parts of the city, as well as original Baroque architecture which dating from the time of the Habsburg dynasty. This town was founded somewhere around the second century BC and was a significant defense and commercial station, known for vast wine valleys. In the early ‘90s city of Bratislava was called “European winery” by the Germans.

After the fall of communism in 1989, city officials decided to rebuild the Old City to attract tourists, so the former European winery quickly was transform into popular European destination. One of the most famous attractions of the Slovak capital is the old town full with many restaurants, taverns and shops. Buildings that are also worthy of visit are Military Museum, the Cathedral of Sts. Martin, the main square with fountain, Old Town Municipality, National Theater and so many others. Bratislava Castle proudly dominates the city and it is the main landmark.
