The Emerald Lakes are located on The Tongariro Alpine Crossing in Tongariro National Park, New Zealand, it is considered to be the most popular one-day Hike in New Zealand (Or as Kiwis say: a one-day tramp), throughout the entire hike there is astounding volcanic scenery.
Probably the most amazing part of the (nearly 20 kilometers) hike of Tongariro Alpine Crossing is the Emerald Lakes, usually on days with good weather, the hike is packed with people. The hike is apart of the “Great Walk Tongariro Northern Circuit“.
