The name of the second largest city in Russia has changed three times, from Saint Petersburg to Petrograd, in 1924 to Leningradand in 1991, back to Saint Petersburg. The city was established in 1703 with the need to king Peter I the Great to introduce agrarian Russia in Europe. This place with a population of over four million is often described as the most Western city of Russia, as well as its cultural capital. The town looks magnificent at first glance, it has the architectural magic. Broad avenues, decorated facades of buildings, royal palaces and parks are part from the soul of St. Petersburg. The contrast of luxury and poverty that can be seen on the streets of the city is fascinating.
