Scopello involves a gorgeous hamlet at the coast in northwest Sicily. Recently, this destination has flooded with local people and foreigners, including magazine photographers and film directors. This picturesque is a great scenic spot for a leisurely meal, an afternoon excursion, or even swimming. Scopello came up around a church on a knoll facing the sea, and the 18th-century Baglio farmhouses were constructed around the courtyard. This delightful hamlet’s population of around eighty is located in the territory of Castellammare del Golfo in Trapani Province. Staying in Scopello, you can enjoy sea bathing and the panoramic landscapes of the attractive green hillside and the stretches of the rocky coastline.

The Tonnara

Scopello involves three main sights: the Tonnara, Zingaro Nature Reserve, and the Baglio. On Scopello’s coast is the Tonnara, which is situated in an inlet and is characterized by two sea stacks. These two sea stacks are named the Faraglioni. The Tonnara dates back to the 15th century and is among the oldest and most significant tuna fishing stations. Nevertheless, there are other buildings dating back to the 13th century. The Tonnara is famous and an outstanding location for swimmers and trippers. Similarly, this location plays a big role in the film world as international TV series and movies are produced here. They include the famous TV Series-Inspector Montalbano and the film Ocean’s Twelve.

The Baglio

The courtyards of the old Baglio currently include cafes, small shops, and boutiques. You can bathe in view of the stacks in the clear waters of the tuna station. The Guidaloca pebble beach entails a wider sweep for swimming and features a beach club. This beach club is an overlooked watch tower dating back to the 16th century. Scopello village has been a destination for many European and Italian holidaymakers who visit for its sea and coastline beauty. Nevertheless, visitors also come here to enjoy the culinary traditions related to dairy products, country fares, and locally caught fish. The Baglio usually hosts musical and cultural events during summer.

Zingaro Nature Reserve

As the name suggests, the Zingaro Nature Reserve involves a 1600 ha park protecting nature. This reserve involves a more than 8 kilometers shoreline joining the bewitching seascape to a wild and undestroyed hinterland. Zingaro involves a tiny terrestrial paradise comprising about 40 nesting bird species and 800 different plants. Some features that symbolize this location as a reserve include dwarf palm trees, bays having intensely blue and transparent waters, birds of prey, and farmhouses. Archeological findings depict that man’s presence dated back about 35000 years ago. Man used the caves as shelter; however, the biggest cave was used for burial and magic rites. You can find professionals to guide you through the park, ensuring you don’t miss out on any significant views.
