Cenote Angelita is located on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. The name of this secret river Cenote Angelita in Spanish means Little Angel. It can be found after 10 to 15 minute drive south of Tulum. This river is actually a relatively thin layer of hydrogen sulfate separating freshwater from salty water. Up to 29 meters depth the water is sweet and then comes to the layer of hydrogen sulfate. This illusion is a result of the phenomenon that is called haloclina. Divers can dive into the river Cenote Angelita and to see its bottom.
There are even trees and fallen leaves on both sides of the “shore”, making this sea landscape quite unreal. When you look down from the surface you can see the deep blue water. At about 18 meters you will start seeing strange bottom in which are appearing tree branches and fog. Into Cenote Angelita everything seems surreal and you will start to feel sensation of fear reinforced by the effects of nitrogen in your brain.
