Haifa is the third largest city in Israel, and is an important part of the Mediterranean. It is represented as well as the industry-university centre in the country and is situated on the northern slopes of Mount Carmel and around Haifa Bay. The city of Haifa is located in an area of 63.7 square kilometres, with about 270,000 inhabitants, but immigrants from the former Soviet Union constitute 25% of Haifa’s population. This place has long and interesting history. Tension and hostility that drag through the past between Arabs and Jews is still there, but the city of Haifa still works perfectly as a model for coexistence. Largest port in the country also belongs at this city.
