Feeling exhausted due to the busy lives and demanding work responsibilities doesn’t leave us with much quality time to spend with our loved ones. That’s why when we see an opportunity to escape our hectic lives even for a weekend we just seize it. These escapades usually require quick moves and you have to be ready to jump from work attire into casual one and hit the road. To make it easier for you and give you fewer things to think about, we’ve prepared a list of things that will have you prepared in no time for the trip and turn your weekend getaway into a small vacation.
Choose the right location
Sometimes you’ll need to take a break from the city and just go to the countryside or somewhere where crickets sing at night and birds wake you up in the morning. And even if you like to have a more active getaway, like hiking, biking or mountain climbing, that doesn’t change the fact that you should pick your destination carefully. Since you only have a weekend, the best would be to choose a location not too far away to shorten your travel time and prolong your stay. If possible, opt for not driving so you can fully relax and refresh.
It matters where you stay
It might seem not that important since you’ll be spending only a couple of days there, but accommodations are actually quite important. If you choose to have an active getaway, you’d want to be near all the happenings and events you plan to see and also be able to stop by your room to change or take a quick shower. For example, if you plan to spend your vacation on the lake, you should book accommodations as near as possible to the water, or if you’d like to visit museums and galleries, the best place to stay is in the middle of it all.
Forget your phone, tablet and laptop
It’s completely understandable that you depend on your phone for keeping you up to date with all the social happenings and gossiping, but you’re going away on a much-needed rest for a few days – there’s no time to waste on things you’ll anyway miss that weekend. So sign out from all unnecessary apps and disconnect from the Internet.
Let your phone serve only in case of an emergency and try to enjoy some time without being addicted to technology. The same applies to tablet or laptop, instead of which you can bring a book or a mp3 player.
Pack only what you really going to wear
Overpacking is something that happens to all of us and usually when we are either disorganized or unsure what to expect. To avoid wasting time on having trouble deciding what to wear and in which bag, pack some things in advance and keep it in a bag at the bottom of your closet or even in your car trunk. The things you’ll certainly need are toiletries, underwear, socks, jeans and shirts.
